Anyways, time for the serious discussion. People nowadays tend to thing that being a good Muslim is all about obeying "the rules." Picture this: if you have a job, and all you do in the office is obey the rules, do you really think that you will get a promotion? No!! To get a promotion, you have to go above and beyond the call of duty, be outside the rules, think outside the box, and be ambitious. If you don't, you end up being stuck in the same job for all the years of your life and end up being miserable, angry, and pathetic. Worse off, you want to make other people feel the way you do. Thus we enter the world of the common Muslim that screams at everyone else for not doing things the way they do. I'll call them durka-durkastanis from now on because all they do is scream "durka durka" at people they deem immoral or wrong.
This is actually in stark contrast to what our beautiful religion teaches and definitely goes against the style and way of the Prophet. He like the prophets before him and the best of the Islamic scholars after him, were egalitarians. More on that later.
Let's look at the Quran first. Over and over it emphasizes doing good deeds. Why aren't any of the durka-durkastanis doing any good deeds? All they are doing is running in fear from "sinning" instead of running to good deeds like we're supposed to. Also, they seem to have forgotten what a good deed is. A good deed is helping someone in need. There are various examples of this such as teaching people how to read, helping the blind/deaf/retarded, catastrophe relief, volunteering, etc.
Let's also remember that the Quran says that good deeds wash away the bad ones. And, let's also remember a famous hadith that says that each good deed is worth 3 (good deed), each bad deed avoided is worth 1 (good deed), and that each bad deed is worth 1 (bad deed).
Let's say that I bang 100 fine girls (regardless of their religion, if they're looking for sex, they'll look for it and get it). I also teach 100 people to read therefore opening their lives to infinite knowledge. A durka-durkastani avoids all 100 of those fine girls.
Now, let's do some math. I did 100 good deeds and 100 bad ones. According to the hadiths and the Quran it goes like this:
100*3 for my good deeds and -100 for my bad deeds (since the good erases the bad). So: 300 - 100 = 200 good deeds. Not bad. Now, the durka-durkastani has earned 100 good deeds, that's it.
I earned twice what he had, and I banged 100 fine girls along the way. Now, I'm not saying that this is how to be, as far as bad deeds go, stuff happens. Even durka-durkastanis have their sins, but they try not to acknowledge them. I'm pretty sure plenty of them watch porn or have chicks on the side. Now, back to the Prophet and the best Islamic scholars. He never screamed at people to convert or act right. He convinced them or led by example. People didn't have to do anything they didn't want to. Now look at Saudi Arabia. Ibn Taymiyyah was even thrown in prison for defending a Christian that defamed the Prophet. Has no one read The Perfumed Garden? It's an Islamic guide to sex. And, I'm gonna finish this up with something from the Caliph Omar. He has been recorded as saying to lick the clit.
I'm not saying that fornication is bad, and that porn is not bad. But, most importantly, there are far worse things in this world than that stuff. We need to worry about the big things more than that. And need to quit screaming "durka-durka" at people.
